Linda Matar is an Associate Porfessor at the School of International Studies, Sun Yat-sen University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from University of London, United Kingdom. Before coming to China, she was Senior research fellow at the National University of Singapore. Her research interests include the political economy and economic history of the Arab region, China’s economic model, and China’s Belt and Road Initiative in the Indian Ocean. Her recent publications include: Syria: From National Independence to Proxy War (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019) and  The Political Economy Investment in Syria (Palgrave Macmillan: 2016) and China Against US imperialism in the Arabian Sea: The Case of Oman (Middle East Critique, 2023).
